## Sundowns’ Journey to the Final

Mamelodi Sundowns have bounced back from last season’s disappointment, when they lost to Pyramids FC in the 2025 decider. Their campaign began with a win over Remo Stars in the qualifying rounds. Sundowns then navigated a challenging Group C campaign, advancing as runners-up behind Al Hilal. They overcame tough tests against MC Alger and Saint-Éloi Lupopo.

In the knockout rounds, Sundowns edged past Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. They then produced a composed display to eliminate Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

## AS FAR’s Road to the Final

AS FAR also had to overcome a demanding path to reach the final. The Moroccan side opened their campaign with aggregate victories over Real de Banjul and Horoya in the qualifying rounds. They progressed from Group B as runners-up behind Al Ahly, ahead of Young Africans and JS Kabylie.

In the knockout stages, AS FAR eliminated Pyramids FC 3-2 on aggregate. They then edged domestic rivals RS Berkane 2-1 over two legs in the semi-finals.

## Current Form

Sundowns wrapped up their Betway Premiership campaign with 68 points from 20 wins, eight draws, and two defeats. However, they head into the final following a 3-2 defeat away to TS Galaxy in their final league outing.

AS FAR, meanwhile, continue to impress domestically. The Rabat side remain unbeaten after 20 Botola Pro matches, collecting 40 points from 10 victories and 10 draws. They sit just one point behind leaders Maghreb de Fès and boast one of the league’s strongest defensive records, conceding only 11 goals so far. Their latest league match ended in an entertaining 3-3 draw away to Hassania Agadir.

The second leg will be staged at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Sunday, 24 May at 21:00.
