Kaizer Chiefs are on the hunt for midfielders to bolster their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season. While they are searching for experienced players, there are some underrated midfielders in the Betway Premiership who could make a significant impact.
The team has been struggling to find control and balance in central areas, but there are a few players who could help turn things around. In a previous article, Part 1 looked at Grant Margeman and Isaac Cisse as possible solutions. However, there are two other midfielders who are gaining attention for their unique qualities and growing influence in the league.
Ibrahim Bance, a 25-year-old midfielder from Marumo Gallants, is one player who could bring some much-needed flair and control to the team. He is not just a defensive midfielder, but also has the ability to create scoring opportunities with his creativity and technical quality.
Bance is particularly effective in tight spaces, where he can use his dribbling ability and close control to escape pressure and progress attacks. He also plays with confidence and flair, which would likely make him a fan favourite at Naturena. With a passing accuracy of around 82 percent, he is comfortable controlling the tempo of the game and finding advanced runners between defensive lines.
Defensively, Bance is also a consistent contributor, with 29 defensive actions and six created chances in just 13 matches this season. His experience playing in different football cultures, including the famous ASEC Mimosas academy in Ivory Coast, has shaped him into a tactically intelligent midfielder.
Kyle Jurgens, a 22-year-old midfielder from Durban City, is another player who has been making waves in the league. He has developed into one of the most dependable young midfielders, known for his intelligence, aggression, and tactical discipline.
Jurgens is a box-to-box player who can cover huge distances throughout a match. His pressing intensity and hunger in duels have earned him a reputation as a player with a lot of grit and personality. His defensive numbers are impressive, with 48 tackles and 37 interceptions this season, as well as two assists going forward.
However, Kaizer Chiefs may have to act quickly if they want to sign Jurgens, as Durban City have recently moved to sign him on a three-year permanent deal, according to reports from
