Ngizwe Mchunu’s home burnt down, he speaks out

Ngizwe Mchunu’s Home Targeted in Suspected Arson Attack

Ngizwe Mchunu’s rural homestead in Umbumbulu, KwaZulu-Natal, was burnt down, sparking widespread sympathy from the public. The incident has drawn support from various individuals, including Bonginkosi Khanyile, a member of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, and Zwakele Mncwango, the provincial chairperson of ActionSA in KZN.

According to Nhlaka Production, three unknown men visited Ngizwe’s homestead, inquiring about him. However, after they left, the family noticed that the rondavels were on fire. The motive behind this act remains unclear, as Ngizwe stated that he moved into the area in 2014 and has never encountered any enemies.

In a video shared by Nhlaka Production, Ngizwe expressed his distress, saying, “I received a phone call from my wife’s sister, who told me that three men came looking for me. But shortly after they left, the family realised that there was a fire.” He added, “I moved in here in 2014, and my neighbours are not my enemies. And I don’t have enemies who would do something like this.”

Family Members Speak Out

Ngizwe’s son, S’bani Mchunu, spoke to Zoso about the fire, saying, “We are going through a difficult time. The fire has destroyed everything in my father’s house.” He further expressed his concern, “What hurts the most is that there were children inside the house, and if those men had locked them inside, they would have possibly died.”

Floda Returns Home

Floda, Ngizwe’s wife, who allegedly separated from him in 2024, rushed back from a gig in Cape Town after hearing the news. The homestead that was burnt down is where Floda lives, as is customary in polygamous marriages. In a video and photos, Floda and Ngizwe are seen mournfully assessing the damage caused by the fire.
