New Leaders Emerge in SA Schools First XV Rugby Rankings

The latest round of South African schools First XV rugby action has brought significant changes to the top of the rankings. A new leader has emerged, dethroning traditional powerhouses and setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season.

Paarl Gimnasium has surged to the top of the rankings, replacing Stellenberg, which had dominated for much of the campaign. Despite being overtaken, Stellenberg remains one of the standout stories of the season, exceeding expectations and currently sitting in second spot.

Traditional Powerhouses Closing In

The pressure is mounting from Paul Roos, who sit third and are closing in rapidly on Stellenberg. With just 0.81 points separating them, the race for second place is intensifying. Grey College occupies fourth position, having played more matches (12) than any of the top six contenders.

Other notable performers include Hoërskool Garsfontein, which continues to punch above its weight, and Paarl Boys’ High, which remains well-placed despite having played fewer matches than most of its top-10 rivals.
