The music industry in South Africa keeps on expanding with new artists joining every year. Despite the challenge, 2020 looks like a promising year for the South African music industry. The artists who dominated 2019 are also likely to dominate the industry this year.

Sha Sha

If you’re an avid fan of South African music, you probably know Sha Sha. She was born in Zimbabwe and has been living in South Africa for a while now. Sha Sha has been releasing music since 2015 with a pioneering single titled “Miss Independent.”

In 2019, Sha Sha was one of the hottest artists. She channelled some of the biggest hits in Amapiano that include “Love You Tonight,” “Tender Love,” and “Something About You.” In November of the same year, Sha Sha released her solo album called “Blossom,” which showcased her talent further, making her one of the Hottest New South African Artists in 2020.

The 2019 album contained some Amapiano, Pop, Soul, and R&B. The singer stated in an interview that she doesn’t stick to a specific genre. Sha Sha

Ka$hCPT

Ka$hCPT is a Hip-Hop artist from Cape Town, considered the birthplace of Hip-Hop in SA. The rapper and some of his peers are responsible for spreading hip-hop from Cape Town to other parts of the country.

The rapper appeared on flames pioneering album “Candy Man” in the hit song “Late Night.” Ka$hCPT is one of the mainstream rappers in the South African hip-hop scene, and he performs regularly on the Nightshow.

Elaine is an R&B singer from Pretoria who has collaborated with a team of new producers to come up with the project “Element.” The EP was released in 2019 and contains all types of love songs.

The singers stated that she used the project to demonstrate that love comes in different forms. Love is not about good times because it can get messy sometimes. Nevertheless, love is universal. Apple Music nominated Elaine as their favourite Artist of the month after the huge success she had with the project in November, making her The Hottest New South African Artists at that time.

Elaine is on the path to continue with her dominance to 2020 because right now, R&B is popular in South Africa.

Blaq Diamond

Blaq Diamond is a music Duo from South Africa made up of Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa. They fuse Maskandi, Mbube, and other traditional elements into their music. The duo has released several hit singles since being signed under the Ambitiouz Entertainment label and solidified their stay with their sophomore album “Umuthi” that saw collaboration with label mate Sjava, Cici, and Thee Legacy.

Blaq Diamond are leading South Africa’s new culturally-infused music wave. Maintaining their bond throughout their musical career has become the goal, and what matters the most to the duo.

Lurah

Lurah has been famous in Cape Town from the time he released his EP in 2016, titled “New Drug,” followed by “Auto Truth” in 2019. However, it was “New Drug 2”

and music videos from the album that brought Lurah to the spotlight.

Lurah has earned praise from artists like Priddy Ugly and Stogie T because of her singing prowess.

Focalistic

In 2019, Focalistic was one of the hottest new South African Artists after releasing a collaboration with Major League DJz. He also collaborated with artists like Emtee and Cassper Nyovest, solidifying the rapper’s reputation.

The rapper from Pretoria prefer rhyming over Amapiano instrumentals and uses vernacular in his lyrics. He is a flexible rapper that can work with different producers and equipment. Focalistic currently is expected to continue his success for the remaining of the 2020 year and early 2021.

Die Mondez

Die Mondez is a close friend to Zoocci Coke Dope, and the two have been collaborating for many years. For example, in 2017, Die Mondez featured on Zoocci’s EP Morning Star. In 2019, the artists worked on a joint project called “Die Dop.”

Die Mondez went on to release a solo project called “Die Mondez Are Forever,” as 2019 came to an end. The project was considered one of the best projects by fans and tabloids alike. Die Mondez is going to blow up even in later 2020.

Indigo Stella

Indigo Stella is both a rapper and singer. If her rhymes don’t get you, her melodic voice will. In 2019, she proved her worth in the project “Indigo,” which showcased her abilities and versatility in production choices. The artists are currently signed with the Mi-Stro Records and on the road to becoming a dominant force.
