The Kaizer Chiefs have secured a third-place finish in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership, ensuring they’ve qualified for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. This achievement marks a significant improvement from last season’s 10th-place finish under Nasreddine Nabi. However, it also puts Amakhosi management in a tough spot regarding their current head coaches, Cedric Kaze and Ben Youssef.
While Kaze and Youssef have led the team to a respectable finish, they failed to win any silverware this season. Given Kaizer Chiefs’ rich history and expectations, not winning trophies might be a concern. It’s worth noting that Nabi, their predecessor, won the Nedbank Cup last season but was still sacked.
There’s speculation about Pitso Mosimane, a former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, potentially joining Kaizer Chiefs. Mosimane is available and open to the opportunity, but no offer has been made yet. Another possibility is Manqoba Mngqithi, who is reportedly the top choice to take charge of the team next season, with Kaze and Youssef potentially staying on as assistant coaches.
In terms of signings, Kaizer Chiefs are rumored to be interested in Orlando Pirates players Tshegofatso Mabaso and Kabelo Dlamini. Mabaso, currently on loan at Stellenbosch FC, is not keen to return to Orlando Pirates, and his contract is set to expire. Dlamini, on the other hand, might need to leave the Bucs to revive his Bafana Bafana career.
