Bonang Matheba is beaming with pride over her recent collaboration with renowned fashion designer Thebe Magugu, which honors the Kingdom of Lesotho. The South African media personality recently stunned on the red carpet at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the Eastgate Shopping Centre, showcasing her impeccable style in a sleek black and white pin-striped two-piece outfit.
In a brief interview on the red carpet, Bonang revealed her excitement about her latest collaboration with Thebe Magugu, stating, “I’m fronting his Fall/Winter Mafeteng capsule collection. We’re celebrating the Kingdom of Lesotho.” This exclusive collection is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Lesotho, and Bonang is the perfect ambassador to showcase its beauty.
On April 25, Bonang took to social media to share stunning photos from Thebe Magugu’s latest collection, featuring the Basotho A-Line high-waist skirt, a black blouse, a Basotho Unisex Poncho, and a Mafeteng peplum dress. Her high bun hairstyle perfectly complemented the outfits, exuding elegance and sophistication.
Bonang has long been a favorite among South African fashion designers, with a history of collaborations that showcase her impeccable style. Her partnership with Gert Johan Coetzee, for instance, has been a highlight of her career, with the two often working together to create stunning outfits.
Another notable collaboration is with designer Rich Mnisi, with whom she has enjoyed a long-standing friendship and professional partnership. The two even graced the cover of Glamour Magazine in 2019, discussing their contributions to redefining African fashion. In 2022, Bonang wore a Rich Mnisi dress from the JAMES collection to the Miss South Africa Top 10 announcement, which was valued at a staggering R17,000.
The Post, Officially! a respected voice in South African fashion, has praised the collaboration between Thebe Magugu and Bonang, calling it a partnership that was previously unforeseen. The reviewer noted, “Bonang Matheba being announced as the Thebe Magugu muse was totally not in my bingo card. Because in my mind that woman is so expensive.” The collaboration has been well-received, with the reviewer acknowledging that it’s a partnership that has brought a fresh perspective to the fashion world.
The reviewer also highlighted Thebe Magugu’s impressive output, mentioning the brand’s exhibition in São Paulo in March, where key looks from the brand were showcased, including the look worn by Lauryn Hill at the DSTV Delicious Festival a year ago.
