Mamelodi Sundowns Boss Miguel Cardoso Slams PSL Refs
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has expressed his frustration with the PSL referees, suggesting they have been favourable to Orlando Pirates this season.
Cardoso Laments Sundowns’ Fixture Congestion
Cardoso also lamented his side’s congested fixture schedule, which he believes will give Pirates an advantage in the title race. The Portuguese boss pointed to the hectic schedule his players have endured over the past 21 days, saying this has taken a toll on his team.
Via Sowetan: “I know people say excuses, excuses, but I invite anyone to really look at the calendar that these boys [Sundowns players] have been involved in in the last 21 days. We were not beaten by whoever, but by the calendar,” Cardoso said after his side lost 3-2 at TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.
Pirates on Brink of First League Title in 14 Years
The result leaves Orlando Pirates needing four points to mathematically guarantee their first Betway Premiership title since 2012. Pirates can seal their first league crown in 14 years if they secure four more points from their remaining fixtures. Even three points might be enough, provided Pirates don’t suffer a heavy defeat in their other fixture. They currently boast a goal difference of +44, while Sundowns’ is +37.
