Pitso Mosimane has been linked to the Kaizer Chiefs job on numerous occasions over the past two years, with the legendary coach addressing these claims several times.
Pitso Mosimane has explained his connection to Kaizer Chiefs, a link that persists despite the lack of concrete evidence. As a former Sundowns boss, Mosimane is often linked to Chiefs, whether or not these links have any basis in reality. This comes at a time when the club may be set to undergo a significant rebuild, with up to seven players potentially leaving at the end of the campaign.
According to an interview with FarPost, Mosimane spoke about his connection to the club, saying, “It’s a small world. Doc’s father was the one putting me in the car. Football is a small world, and we belong to one family. It’s a big, but very small family.” This statement highlights the complex web of relationships within the football world.
In 2024, Mosimane downplayed the idea of coaching another African club. However, his stance may have shifted since then. He has stated that there is now interest in him from various parts of the world, including Asia and North America. Mosimane seems open to exploring opportunities outside of Africa, citing the desire to leave a legacy.
He mentioned that he would consider projects in the Gulf or Asia, as these regions offer new challenges and opportunities. However, when it comes to national teams, Mosimane is more open to working on the continent. For club football, though, he appears less keen on returning to Africa.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs fans may need to accept that Mosimane is not their top priority at the moment. The club’s board should focus on finding the right candidate for the job, rather than fixating on a single individual.
Mduduzi Shabalala, a 22-year-old player, is likely to miss the World Cup due to a broken arm sustained during a match against Sundowns. This injury is a significant blow, especially considering the club’s potential rebuild. Players like Gaston Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo, Zitha Kwinika, Bruce Bvuma, Dillan Solomons, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and Pule Mmodi may also face uncertain futures.
