Kruger United Earns Betway Premiership Promotion

Kruger United’s Historic Rise to the Top

Kruger United has made history in South African football by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship title with a convincing 3-1 victory over Black Leopards at Kanyamazane Stadium. This remarkable achievement not only crowns them as champions of the 2025/26 season but also secures their spot in the prestigious Betway Premiership, sending the town of Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga into a frenzy of celebrations.

A Rapid Ascent to Success

Formed in 2023 by local entrepreneurs Bongani Wati and Basil Khoza, who acquired the status of Caroline FC, Kruger United has wasted no time in making a significant impact. They dominated their ABC Motsepe League stream and successfully navigated the national play-offs in 2024 to earn promotion to the professional ranks. Instead of taking a gradual approach to establishing themselves in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Kruger United set their sights high from the outset.

The journey to the top has not been without its challenges, as the team had to adapt to squad adjustments, manage pressure, and contend with the demands of competing against seasoned professionals on a weekly basis. However, the club’s leadership remained committed to their vision, striking a balance between nurturing local talent and bringing in experienced players from the Betway Premiership to provide guidance and support.

A New Era for Kruger United

With the championship title secure, Kruger United now looks forward to competing in the Betway Premiership, not just as a promoted side but as reigning champions. The focus shifts to the intense battle for second and third place, with the top two teams earning a spot in the promotion play-offs. The competition is fierce, with Milford FC, Hungry Lions, Casric City, and Cape Town City all vying for a place in the Premiership Promotion Play-Offs, with only two matchdays remaining to determine the outcome.
