Orlando Pirates are gearing up to take on Orbit College at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. A win for the Buccaneers would see them clinch the Betway Premiership title for the first time in 14 years, but a defeat or draw would hand the trophy to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The match, which is set to kick off at 15:00, will be televised on SABC 1 and SuperSport channels. The Buccaneers will be looking to bounce back from a goalless draw against Durban City at the Orlando Amstel Arena last weekend.
Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is expected to make some key changes to his lineup, with a focus on going all out in attack. Here’s a predicted lineup for the Buccaneers:
* Sipho Chaine (GK) – Chaine has been in top form this season, keeping 20 clean sheets and is a favourite to win Goalkeeper of the Season.
* Kamohelo Sebelebele (RB) – Sebelebele will provide Orlando Pirates with more attacking options and will likely play as a winger.
* Lebone Seema (CB) – Seema has been one of the standout defenders this season and is unlucky to have not received a Bafana Bafana call-up.
* Nkosinathi Sibisi (CB) – Sibisi will captain the side on Saturday and could lift the trophy if his team beats Orbit College.
* Deon Hotto (LB) – Hotto’s energy on the left flank will be crucial for Pirates against Orbit.
* Thalente Mbatha (CM) – Mbatha could play as a defensive midfielder on Saturday as the team looks to go for broke.
* Masindi Nemtajela (AM) – Nemtajela has been impressive since joining the Buccaneers and will play in the midfield alongside Mbatha.
* Relebohile Mofokeng (AM) – Mofokeng will return to the number 10 role for the final match and will likely play as a second striker.
* Oswin Appollis (RW) – Appollis will play on the right wing and will look to switch sides and unsettle the Orbit defence if the Buccaneers don’t find an early goal.
* Tshepang Moremi (LW) – Moremi will need to create havoc on the left wing if Pirates are to win the league.
* Evidence Makgopa (FW) – Makgopa’s height will be a factor at Mbombela, and he could prove to be an advantage for Pirates.
The Buccaneers will need to be at their best to overcome Orbit College and claim the title. With a strong lineup and a bit of luck, Pirates could finally lift the trophy after 14 years.
