Orlando Pirates Set for Midfield Shake-Up
Orlando Pirates are gearing up for a busy transfer window, and midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula is the latest player rumoured to be on his way out of Mayfair. The 36-year-old’s future with the Bucs is uncertain, but he remains a respected figure in the Betway Premiership, with several clubs reportedly interested in his services.
The midfielder’s uncertain future comes as no surprise, given the emergence of younger talent at Orlando Pirates. Players like Thalene Mbatha, Sipho Mbule, and Patrick Maswanganyi have stepped up, while youngsters Camren Dansin, Masindi Nemtajela, Simphiwe Selepe, and Kamogelo Sebelebele are eager to make their mark.
Despite turning 37 in November, Makhaula still has options. According to Soccer Laduma, there is growing interest in the former AmaZulu captain’s services. “While no final decision has yet been communicated, sources close to the situation have indicated that interest in the midfielder is already growing within PSL circles.” The report adds that several clubs are monitoring developments around Makhaula’s situation, drawn to his experience, leadership qualities, and consistency.
Contract Uncertainties at Mayfair
The future is also uncertain for Tshegofatso Mabasa and Kabelo Dlamini, whose contracts with Orlando Pirates expire at the end of the season. Mabasa, currently on loan at Stellenbosch, has been linked to Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu, and Al Ahly. Meanwhile, Dlamini has fallen down the pecking order and is reportedly exploring options for next season, having been valued at around R9-million.
