Junior Khanye Expresses Disappointment in Orlando Pirates’ Sipho Mbule
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye has voiced his disappointment in Orlando Pirates midfielder Sipho Mbule. The 28-year-old talented midfielder played 23 times across all competitions, but half of those matches were as a substitute.
Mbule joined Orlando Pirates as a free agent this season, having had off-field issues at Mamelodi Sundowns. He seemed to be on the right track until the second half of the season. However, his apparent behaviour has seen him miss key matches, and he is reportedly not in Abdeslam Ouaddou’s plans for the next season.
Mbule’s Disappointing Season at Pirates
Khanye expressed his disappointment in Mbule’s performance, saying, “Sipho Mbule’s season did not turn out the way I expected. He started his Orlando Pirates career very well in the MTN8, but then laziness crept in.” Khanye noted that Mbule started gaining weight badly and became too relaxed after being signed by Orlando Pirates. “He is the best talent who didn’t fulfill the wishes I had for him at Pirates,” Khanye added.
The former Chiefs star felt Mbule became lazy as the season went by and failed to meet the demands of Orlando Pirates. “He started the season very well, but what I have noticed is that he was too lazy to work, and the so-called modern football doesn’t accommodate people like him,” Khanye explained. He also mentioned that coaches are concerned about their jobs since football has become a business.
Mbule’s Future at Orlando Pirates Uncertain
Khanye recalled that Hugo Broos took Mbule to the AFCON in Morocco because at the time he deserved to be there. However, Mbule has not featured in recent matches for Orlando Pirates, fueling speculation regarding his exit.
Mbule has not been seen at Pirates training, sparking rumours that he might be on his way out of the club.
KickOff reported Khanye’s comments on Mbule’s performance.
