Benni McCarthy Joins BBC Sport for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Benni McCarthy, the legendary Bafana Bafana striker and current Kenya head coach, has been confirmed as part of the BBC Sport punditry team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, promises to be an exciting event, and McCarthy’s addition to the team is sure to bring valuable insights.
A Star-Studded Line-up
McCarthy will join a talented group of analysts and presenters for the World Cup. His appointment was announced after Kenya’s June international friendlies against Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, as Harambee Stars continue their preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. McCarthy is expected to begin his BBC role after these friendlies.
McCarthy’s Broadcasting Experience
This won’t be McCarthy’s first foray into broadcasting. He has previously appeared on BBC Sport programmes and football podcasts as an analyst and guest pundit. His new role will further strengthen his growing profile off the pitch, while he continues his coaching project with Kenya.
