In a low-key interview with Swedish media, the CEO of Paradox Interactive said she doesn’t think that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be ready until the second half of 2021.
A mild understatement to talk about complicated development for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Announced in March 2019, the game was initially slated for release in Q1 2020, before being pushed back later in the year to finally be once again. postponed to 2021.
In addition to these initial issues, the global pandemic has brought with it a lack of development kits for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X which has made the game more lagging behind. For all these reasons, Ebba Ljungerud, CEO from Paradox Interactive, told Swedish media Placera last November that she did not think Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 would be released before the second half of 2021. And of course, it will be the same story for the publisher’s other projects.
Previously, the project had already experienced many turmoils such as the departure of Brian Mitsoda, narrative designer, as well as the creative director and then a senior narrative designer a few months later. On top of that, Chris Avellone, a veteran screenwriter in the video game industry, who has notably worked on the game was pulled from the project following accusations of sexual harassment to which he was subjected last June, pushing the studio to rewrite the short parts for which he was in charge.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is currently still scheduled for 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
